Software and System Engineering
GoldBot Consulting provides software and system engineering services to numerous customers within
the Department of Defense. We provide the full software lifecycle including working with the customer
to gather and define requirements, designing and developing the system, and successfully delivering the
final product. We specialize in a wide variety of application types and problem sets including GIS-based
systems, web service and SOA-based systems, applying predictive intelligence, and text mining and natural
language processing.
We do everything from rapid prototyping proof of concept systems to developing and deploying production ready applications.
Predictive Geospatial Intelligence
What is predictive geospatial intelligence? Predictive geospatial intelligence is a process in which data mining methodologies are used in conjunction with geospatial data sets to make a prediction. What kind of prediction? An example would be creating a process to determine where gas stations are likely to be found in the United States. Data mining, the discovery step in the overall knowledge discovery process looks for unknown relationships between geospatial data sets and the locations of known gas stations. This could be accomplished by experts as well, but data mining allows us to look at subtle interactions between hundreds of data layers...generally intractable for a person to perform. The discovered relationships allow us to rank areas that have a high likelihood of having a gas station. The process we use employs multiple predictive approaches, including experts, to bring together a unified view that performs better than any single approach is able to do by itself.
